Aye! That was a challenge! They said that my posts based upon and inspired from Instagram shots taken in Ikaria are ok, but they’d rather see instead my own old or newer photos time and again, because, as they said, they are dowed with a quality different from I/G. And that quality is, as they said again, that they are fundamental. I am not really sure of the meaning and I will certainly not bother anybody with guesses. Whatever they meant, I straightforwardly took it as a compliment, and as a gesture of thanks, I am assembling this post with the idea of fundamentality flashing in my head, and as I am doing so, I realize that I know no other with this attribute (i.g. fundamental) than freedom, nature and womanhood.
Therefore, behold my friends and supporters, under a title borrowed from one of my albums on Flickr a total of eighty-eight (including the header) photos about freedom, nature and womanhood, the last two interrelating, interchanging, interacting. There is also some sport and a bit of farming and other stuff too, ok? Being fundamental doesn’t mean being always coherent, I think. 😉

έτσι μου φαίνεται πως είναι ώρα πια για μια μικρή ανταπόδοση. Δεν ήξερα στην αρχή πως να το κάνω, ώσπου προχτές, σε ξαφνική επίσκεψή στο σπίτι του, διάβασα κάποιες δημόσιες αναρτήσεις στο χρονολόγιο της σελίδας του, και αποφάσισα να τις δημοσιεύσω στο μπλογκ μου.Είναι πρόσφατες, σχεδόν απανωτές, γραμμένες στο διάστημα Νοεμβρίου 2020 – Ιανουαρίου 2021, κι εγώ (to agrimi) από σας τώρα ζητώ να πείτε ποια από αυτές σας άρεσε.
Εκείνη που άρεσε σε μένα, για όσους είναι εξοικειωμένοι με τη δική μας μυθολογία που είναι κι αυτή μικρό κομμάτι της γενικότερης μυθολογίας του νησιού μας, είναι προφανής, γι’ αυτό δεν θα την πω, για να μην σας επηρεάσω.
Ο τίτλος του άρθρου, όπως θα δείτε παρακάτω, είναι δανεισμένος από τη δεύτερη ανάρτηση: «Εικόνες μιας σύγχρονης λαογραφίας». Αυτός ο τίτλος μου φάνηκε πως τις καλύπτει όλες κι ομογενοποιεί την ετεροκλητότητά τους. Δεν είναι άλλο παρά δεκαέξι ρεμβασμοί, αυθόρμητοι, και φαινομενικά εντελώς τυχαίοι. Και όμως, για μένα, ήταν δεκαέξι ανάσες ηρεμίας μέσα στο άγχος και τον ζόφο που περνάμε.
Ευχαριστούμε για όλα Άγγελε – που είσαι αυτός που είσαι
και που δεν έχεις πολλούς followersαλλά μονάχα φίλους – ανάμεσά τους,
χαρούμενη για μια φορά,

Hello
Few weeks ago, I shared this photo, the “Sturmvogel”, on Flickr. I wanted to share it first of all as a gift to my island, and more particularly, if not more significantly, as a gift to a few special people, regardless if they will ever be able to see it.
I felt like I should share my Sturmvogel to show my gratitude.
My gratitude for all the moments, the actions, the initiatives, the performances, the interventions; for the dancing, the hiking, the photo-shooting, the exploring, the discovering; for the awkward moments, the embarrassments, the failures, the betrayals; for the endless debating, the jokes, the partying and the dancing; for the fight to make this small rock in the sea a better place to live.
Certainly, it’s not much. Certainly, most of it is erratic. But for me, just to know that these things happen, these people exist, makes my life on this island richer, happier and more liberating.
It makes the Sturmvogel put on her dream feathers and wings.
It makes the Sturmvogel run, take off and fly.
Making small changes, giving small examples, adding small touches of ingenuity, ephemeral flares of potential. Understanding the environment, communicating with the landscape. Studying history, culture and local lore. Being creative, sophisti-cated but un-technocratic. Enjoying the views, swimming naked, getting dehydrated, blazing lost trails across nowhere lands. Being small and big. Most of all, being un-materialistic, not funded, not subsided, not sponsored, non-profit.
Powered not by the odious “love for one’s home country” but by that primitive, shapeless yet powerful spirit, hidden in forests 
and rocks, known by poets and artists as genius loci.

The Sturmvogel is grateful
For the first time in her life she feels she belongs somewhere.
Even harder than that, for the first time in her life she feels attached and committed.

Finding myself by chance as a witness of the first expression of this gutsy active spirit in 2007, and being the first to blog about it, I felt I should do it again, more loudly. Because this time we have the whole thing. And because this time I am not a tourist anymore. I am a permanent resident, and as a Sturmvogel in this spirit I fly; as a Sturmvogel in this spirit I nest.

Κι έ
τσι πέρασε κι αυτός ο Αύγουστος στην ΑντιΜύκονο [link] και ήταν το ίδιο καλά (και πιο καλά) σαν τους άλλους Αύγουστους [link] που έζησα στο νησί. Αυτό θυμάμαι μόνο, γιατί πλάκωσε πολλή δουλειά και πολλές συναναστροφές και πέρα-δώθε και όλα έχουν γίνει ένα κουβάρι στο μυαλό μου. Πιο καλά θυμάμαι τον Ιούλιο που ήταν πιο λίγο στριμωγμένα τα πράγματα και μόλο που έκανε ζέστη, μπόρεσα να κάνω 2-3 βόλτες στα βουνά και πήγα και σε ένα φεστιβάλ [link], το καλύτερο που γίνεται εδώ το καλοκαίρι και αφού τέλειωσε αυτό, πήγα σε ένα πανηγύρι και χόρεψα με τα νέα παιδιά.

Εγώ όμως το αγρίμι απ’ όλα αυτά δεν θα σας δείξω άλλο από τις τρεις ωραίες ζωγραφιές του Paul Lewis που έχω ξαναγράψει άρθρα μου γι’ αυτόν [link] και έχω δημοσιεύσει εικόνες [link], και που με το που είδα αυτές τις πρόσφατες, αμέσως σκέφτηκα τους παραπάνω στίχους του Α.Ε. από την Οκτάνα. Χαίρε βάθος αμέτρητο, μη με ρωτήσετε για ποίηση, η ποίηση είναι για μένα όπως ο Κρυπτονίτης για τον Σούπερμαν, εξασθενώ και παραλύω όταν κατά λάθος διαβάσω ένα ποίημα, παρόλα αυτά, νομίζω ότι αυτό ήταν το πνεύμα του φετινού καλοκαιριού, τουλάχιστον για μένα που είμαι πιο μεγάλη από τις τρελές πιτσιρικούδες του καλοκαιριού, τις λαμπερές μέσα στην απλυσιά τους, που χόρεψα μαζί τους και ένιωσα το σφυγμό και τον καημό τους και γέμισε η ψυχή μου συμπόνια, ελπίδα και χαρά.

~Αυτά είχα να πω, μη σας ζαλίζω άλλο, τι έγινε τον Αύγουστο, τέλος πάντων, μπορείτε να τα δείτε τεκμηριωμένα, εμπεριστατωμένα και σεβαστικά σε αυτή τη συλλογή φωτογραφιών [link] που τράβηξαν οι Άρης Οικονόμου και Γιώργος Βιτσαράς, επαγγελματίες, γνώστες κι οι δυο και λάτρεις του νησιού. Καμπόσες απ’ αυτές τις είδα και στη LIFO και μου φάνηκε πολύ τρελό κι αστείο που είμουν κι εγώ από ‘κει…

Έτσι που λέτε ξεμπερδέψαμε με τον Αύγουστο. Φυσικά, όλα αυτά δεν ήταν τουρισμός. Η Ικαρία πάντα και τώρα δεν είναι τουριστικό νησί. Όλα αυτά δεν ήταν παρά μια σύντομη γιορτή που πάει, έγινε και πέρασε. Θα διαβάσετε κι άλλα για αυτό το φαινόμενο στο επόμενο ποστ, όμως τώρα πρέπει να κλείσω. Μου πέρασε η καλοκαιρινή γαστρεντερίτιδα και επιτέλους πάω να βρω τα αγαπημένα μου βατόμουρα!

Γεια σας εκεί έξω😋Τώρα κανονικά θα ‘πρεπε ν’ ανέβαζα
χάρτες μονοπατιών στο μπλογκ, 
αλλά που καιρός;Είναι σε εξέλιξη οι αγροτικές εργασίες της
άνοιξης και συνάμα γίνονται πολλά πράγματα, καλά, κακά ή αδιάφορα, απορώ που γίνονται τόσα, τέλος πάντων, αυτό το ποστ είναι για να μη λένε οι φίλοι ότι τους ξέχασα και πιάνουν τα τηλέφωνα, καλά είμαι, ρε παιδιά, ορίστε και αυτές οι φανταστικές φωτογραφίες από μια εκδρομή 
που έγινε πριν δύο εβδομάδες, έτσι για να βλέπετε, να μη λέτε ότι δεν έχουμε κουλτούρα στο νησί, έχουμε και παραέχουμε.Π.χ. έχουμε γλυπτική της φύσης, ζωγραφική του πελάγου, θεατρικά εμπνευσμένα απ’ το τοπίο κι
εξερευνήσεις ερειπίων οικισμών που μοιάζουν σαν προϊστορικοί. Και έχουμε και σπορ, π.χ. ξυπόλητο τρέξιμο παιδιών στα μονοπάτια, κολύμπι σε άγρια νερά, σκαρφάλωμα σε βράχια και πότε-πότε άσκοπες περιπλανήσεις που είναι για μένα οι καλύτερες.😋Άντε γεια τώρα, σκάβαμε και μαγειρεύαμε όλη μέρα, ελπίζουμε να βρέξει λίγο αυτές τις μέρες, να ποτιστεί η
γη, να ξεκουραστούμε κι εμείς. Αυτά από μένα, πάτε στο μπλογκ της Ελένης να δείτε το ωραίο φωτο-ποστ που λέγεται: «A Day at an Exhibition» που πάει να πει «Μια Μέρα σε μια Έκθεση». Τι έκθεση; Μια έκθεση βραχομορφών και φυσικών θαυμάτων που βλέπει κανείς μόνο με τα πόδια και που αν είναι τολμηρός μπορεί να κάνει και μπάνιο!
