Sometimes young zyaenas like this one are caught in the nets or the longlines (“παραγάδια”). I couldn’t be sure if they are eatable like the cubs of tiger sharks and topes from which we make delicious “galeos skordalia” (shark cub covered with garlic sauce).
Now there is another shark that excites me, though my Ikarian source told me very little about it. It’s a very big shark that he called “Kouvakas”. Could it be a “whale shark”? As exotic as that? Why not. The Aegean is a very deep sea, full of mysteries. Anyway, my friend said that Kouvakes are like cows. They hover very slowly near the bottom of the sea and they eat grass! However, when they are aroused in spring, they come to the surface to flirt. I would very much like to see the “love parade” of such monsters.
